Diane Ayott, a resident of Massachusetts, earned a MFA in Painting and a MS in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston as well as a BA in Humanities from New England College and a Painting Diploma from The Art Institute of Boston. She has a substantive history of solo and group exhibitions to her credit and is a recipient of numerous awards. Ayott is an Associate Professor of Art Education, Foundation, and Painting at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts. Her home and studio are on Boston’s North Shore.
Ayott’s geometric oil paintings involve surface, texture, color and light. The viewer is invited to explore her communication with abstraction and organic patterns through a complex layering of shapes and space. Ayott notes, “Most often, and with long period of concentrated focus, the work evolves to a point where it teeters between balance and distortion.”
