Tim, a resident of Boston, received his art training at the Massachusetts College of Art where Neill has also taught the summer program in figurative painting. He paints his subjects after frequent studies and drawings much like the classical painters of the past, but includes influences of contemporary art to create his unique style. Neill delicately layers colors creating a luminescent portrait reminiscent of Dutch portraiture. His personal style appears through the abstraction of a figure’s limb or reflection. He often enshrouds the face or form in light allowing mood and shadow to dominate. Mood and shadow almost become the subject of the painting where the figure becomes the method of delivery. Tim’s work is held in numerous private collections.
